backstory
.. Early Life
Zorvaan was the third iteration in his line and he was created as a Vorta tactical officer at the start of the Dominion War. The first 4 years of his life were pretty standard for a Vorta. He led Dominion troops into battle against the Alpha Quadrant powers.Zorvaan grew close with his immediate squadron of Jem'hadar. Not exactly forming 'personal' relationships with them, but there was certainly more than just surface level respect. Zorvaan turned heads when he promoted his Third to First suddenly. He claimed it was a merit-based promotion but there were whispers there was something else happening... Romulan Star Empire
In late 2374, Zorvaan's fleet was sent into Romulan space to attempt to infiltrate their lines. Zorvaan's ships were captured and Zorvaan was taken into custody by Romulan forces. They were held in prison and interrogated. As Romulans did, Zorvaan had the same interrogator throughout the whole process, someone who could get to know them. Unlike many other Tal Shiar interrogations, Zorvaan's interrogator used charm and kindness, hoping to get them to trust him. Zorvaan resisted and was unamused by any of the Romulans' tactics.The Romulans had no problem letting the majority of the Jem'hadar soldiers die from withdrawal, but they noticed Zorvaan seemed particularly attached to their senior officers. Thinking they could use this to their advantage, they allowed Zorvaan to keep their First, Second, and Third alive. Naturally, Zorvaan and their team did all they could to try an formulate an escape plan. The Romulans knew they would do this and it was actually playing right into their hand.As White ran low, Zorvaan had to choose who to keep alive. The Romulans hoped that the emotional trauma of choosing who to keep alive would encourage cooperation with the interrogations.Zorvaan and their First were prepared to die in the Romulan prison. Zorvaan requested that their First kill them to save them the pain of watching him descend into madness. Their first agreed and right before he could deal the final blow, a Romulan guard killed him and took Zorvaan back to the interrogation room.At this point the Romulans had gotten all of the information they needed from Zorvaan from their numerous escape attempts. With their First dead, Zorvaan had no reason to keep on living and was prepared to trigger Zorvaan 4's activation when their interrogator stopped them and confessed that he had developed true feelings for them and they were prepared to take Zorvaan with them, not as a prisoner but as a consort. Zorvaan was already in an emotional vulnerable state and after a few whirlwind days, they agreed... Life as a Romulan Consort
Zorvaan began their new life as a Romulan consort onboard the IRW Umhi. At first, Zorvaan was a mere civilian who did not have much to do aside from spend time with their partner who also had a wife whom lived with them. She was a spiteful woman and disliked the pretty Vorta walking around.Zorvaan studied a lot in their free time, learning as much as they could about Romulan culture and language. There was still a part of them that wanted to return to the Dominion. They were treated very well by their partner who showered them with affection. Eventually, Zorvaan's rivalry with their partner's wife escalated and they killed her..Their partner did not seem mad at Zorvaan, if anything, he was impressed by Zorvaan's ability to outsmart a Romulan and brought them back to Romulus to see about getting an official marriage recognised along with Romulan citizenship. The Merrus house accepted Zorvaan after they successfully passed all of the trials and tests set forth by the house. Zorvaan was a Vorta, but clearly picked up Romulan culture quickly.After their official marriage, Zorvaan returned to space with their husband. As the years went on and they learned more about Romulan tactics, Zorvaan started to sit in on meetings and then eventually began speaking at them too. The Romulans on the ship were skeptical, but Zorvaan showed their skills little by little... Post Supernova
The Hobus Supernova claimed many lives, including Zorvaan's husband's. Zorvaan was one of the few crew members on their ship left standing and worked to save them and a few others in their fleet. Zorvaan was given an unofficial commission as the chief tactical officer of their ship. Upon reaching Rator III, Zorvaan was reunited with their Romulan family. One of the members was a D'Tan sympathiser and wanted to recruit them for D'Tan's rebellion. Zorvaan liked the idea of a more 'equal' Romulan society and agreed to help in any way they could.Zorvaan enlisted in the Free State military with the intention of being an informant for D'Tan. They already had proven themself to be a good officer from their previous service record. In 2399, during a routine patrol, Zorvaan's ship was ambushed by an enemy Romulan faction. The ship was destroyed and crew scattered in escape pods, and Zorvaan's was picked up by a passing ship -- The RRW Tenakruvek... RRW Tenakruvek
The Tenakruvek rescued Zorvaan, wondering why a Vorta was on a Romulan ship. Zorvaan explained what the situation was and they thought Zorvaan would make a great informant. They kept Zorvaan aboard to hear their story and eventually let them return to the Free State. Zorvaan thanked the Tenakruvek for saving their life and promised to help out if they ever needed someone with Free State connections.
